Geologist

Job Outline & Challenges

  Provides a wide range of geological support and technical advice/guidance to the asset team and, as appropriate, project/operations teams, in particular: o Reservoir characterisation of producing fields and prospects

  Evaluation of new business opportunities

  Formulation and execution of agreed technical programmes for each asset

  Geological input into new business opportunity evaluations o Construction and update of 3D static reservoir models

  Calculate volumetrics (STOIIP, GIIP) and reserves for fields and prospects

  Prepare relevant parts of well programmes in partnership with geophysicists, drilling and reservoir engineers e.g. preparing well paths

  Assist in preparation of appraisal and development programmes

  Prepare and present material as required internally and to third parties e.g. DECC/JV partners o Assessing subsurface risk for opportunities It is likely that the Senior Geologist will take a lead role in many of these activities/projects and/or supervise and co-ordinate the activities of other team members. 

  Keeps abreast of new and emerging technologies and applies leading technologies and technical best practice to maximise field performance.

  Supports the development of technical skills and knowledge within the team by openly sharing technical knowledge and expertise with less experienced professionals and through involvement in the technical mentoring process.

  Contributes to sub-surface peer reviews, project brainstorming, etc.

  Develops highly positive relationships, and inter-faces effectively, with other teams and external parties e.g. well operations, projects, supply chain, JV partner representatives.

  Develops a good understanding of financial/commercial aspects of work activities. Ensures expenditures are effectively managed, controlled and monitored. May provide input to budget preparation/business planning process.

  Provides technical input and evaluation support relating to the award of contracts and supplier agreements for e.g. specialist geological services. As appropriate, supports the contractor/supplier management process by developing highly positive relationships with contractors and suppliers and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives/KPIs.

  May be required to represent the company on industry forums, initiatives, etc.

  May be required to make visits offshore for technical meetings and/or to enhance onshore-offshore relationships/communications.

  The job holder is expected to take ownership for the continuous development of personal and technical expertise and knowledge.

  The job holder is expected to be flexible and undertake additional duties commensurate with the overall responsibilities of the job, and that are within their competence, when required.

 

 Experience / knowledge / skills

   Previous experience in a similar role within a challenging and diverse asset management environment.

  Exposure to drilling/well operations (well planning etc)

  Proven ability to undertake important projects and / or highly complex assignment / tasks requiring the application of highly developed technical skills and knowledge without supervision.

  Good commercial awareness. Understands profit financing / cost control principles.

  Good awareness of e.g. legislation, licensing, fiscal issues relevant to the oil and gas industry.

  Proven relationships - builder with the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams Highly effective communication / presentation / report writing skills.

  Self starter / highly motivated / well organised.

  Highly developed analytical and problem solving skills.

 

Geophysicist:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Carry out investigations into basic geophysical problems related to hydrocarbon exploration.

  Assist with the development and implementation of strategies to optimize the quality and utilization of geophysical data.

  Assist with the supervision and quality control of the acquisition, processing and interpretation of geophysical data.

  Interpret geophysical and geological data to map prospective areas and define areas for further exploratory effort. Recommend appropriate action.

  Develop and maintain computerized geophysical databases, and provide support for Exploration users.

Develop and evaluate geophysical computer applications and apply them to solving Exploration problems.

Skills & Certificates:

  Education: BS Geophysics, Geology. An advanced degree will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year.

  Experience: Generally a minimum of seven years experience in Petroleum Geophysics or other discipline appropriate to the task. Fluent in spoken and written English.

Petrophysicist

Job Description:

As a Principal Petrophysicist you will provide technical and project leadership on petrophysical studies and multi-disciplinary integrated studies. Among other tasks you will:

  Provide advice on data acquisition \   Perform data quality checks

  Perform environmental corrections

  Choose and perform appropriate interpretation routines

  Use of log interpretation software

  Analyze sensitivity of outputs to input parameters

  Integrate work with other disciplines    Work in a multidisciplinary team

Skills & Certificates:

  You will have at least 5 -10 years' experience

  You will have good Petrophysical analysis skills and ideally experience of data acquisition operations. A good understanding of integration with other sub surface disciplines is highly desirable. In addition you will have the ability to work on your own initiative.

Reservoir Engineer

Duties/Responsibilities:

  Coordinate and lead technical and special studies and development projects. Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams. Transfer state-of-the-art technologies in reservoir simulation and Petrophysicist.

  Review and participate in major reservoir studies as a Senior Consultant Contribute towards alignment and coordination of department Out Of Syria Study Program.

  Provides critical and expert consultation in all areas of reservoir development. Identifies key technologies and disseminates them.

Skills & Certificates:

  Education: Bsc. in Petroleum Engineering.

  Fluent in spoken and written English.

  Experience: 10-15 years.

  An outstanding knowledge of reservoir engineering methods and technologies.

  Demonstrated research capabilities in special studies and projects with published results of work.

  Excellent business acumen. Have the necessary leadership skills to form and lead technical teams.

  Excellent knowledge in the different oil and gas field operations and practices including drilling & workover, production, reservoir management.
